2009 US Open


The 2009 US Open will be held from August 31 through September 13, 2009 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is the world’s largest public tennis facility and home of the US Open. It was renamed in honor of the tennis legend and trailblazer whose pioneering efforts helped change the sport of tennis and launch the drive for gender equality in sports.

It was Murray in the Miami Masters

Murray won her third masters title and the biggest in his career by defeating Novak Djokovic of Serbia in straight sets 6-2, 7-5, in the Sony Ericsson Open in the Miami, Florida.

Murray dominated the first set of the match but in the second set the Serbian gave him a tough battle, and Murray came back from 5-2 down before claiming the title. Early in the second set Murray started to find it difficult for him as his opponent Djokovic started to come to the net a lot more and lost his timing until the end of the match.

Murray starting this season terrific by winning the Dubai Open and Rotterdam Open, he had now a total of 11 ATP titles bringing him alongside with the former British number one Tim Henmann and closer to Greg Rusedski's with 15 a total.

Sunday's final was played in the afternoon heat in Miami were both players quickly drenched in sweat and wrapping their body with ice towels and ate every changeover. Murray start the set with the wide margin of 4-0, and breaking the serve of Djokovic twice. The British playing on top of his game, while the Serbian making a lots of unforced errors, a hard hitting smash and then followed by a wonderful backhand that gave him 5-1 anvantage in the first set.

In the second set errors began to flow on Murray side, Djokovic rejuvenated and began to attcked the net more and more, and got the next four points of the match bringing him into 5-2 lead. In the middle of the match, Murray serve three aces one in the second serve helped Murray to 5-5 and when he broke again, this time to love, the game was well and truly up.

Winning this tournament he secures a cash prize total of $590,000 and also will put him closer or maybe edging Djokovic in the third position in the world ranking. Murray's statement after the match.

"I'm training very hard to try and do that but there are so many great players just now - Novak, Rafa (Nadal), Roger (Federer) - and they've been dominating the Slams for the last few years," he said.

"It would be nice to get in there and take one."

Azerinka beat the World Number One

In Miami, Florida- Victoria Azerinka of Belarus, captures his first major title by beating the number one seed and the world number one player 6-3, 6-1, in the finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in the hardcourt Miami.

In that final match Serena Williams was bothered by a left thigh injury and got worse as the match goes on. But despite of this defeat, Serena still assured to be the world number player in the WTA ranking in 71st week of her career. In the first set Serena tied the match at 3-3, before began to feel the pain in her thigh which was heavily bandaged which also supporting her knee. And from that point until the end of the match, she only managed to win just one game.

That injury of Serena, was felt by her in the quarter final win over Li Nan of China. Her injury made Serena difficult to to move a little bit in the left, right and moving forward was also difficult. In their previous meeting in the Australian Open Serena forced to retired Azerinka in the fourth round of the tournament due to ill.

Williams was off night on the court with five double faults on the match, with 34 unforced error and a poor 54 percent of successful in first service. Azerinka served for title match point tensed up a little bit, made her second title match point a double fault, before getting the title in the third try.

At the age of 19, Azernka captured her first major title and the third of her career which all have won in 2009 the other two was in Brisbane and Memphis. And expected in this win that Azirinka will elavate her ranking into the eight spot in the world. And here was the statement of Azerinka after she won the title in the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida.

"It was a great honour to meet Serena in the final and even greater to win against her," said Azarenka. "It's only this season that I have started to believe in myself and to believe that I can win tournaments."

Sonny Ericsson Championship: Serena Williams is in the quartenfinals

On the ongoing Sonny Ericsson tournament, Serena Williams the world's number one women tennis player advances to the quarterfinals after beating the number 17th seed Zheng Jie of China in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

An ace ended the matched between them then Serena raised her fist and began to smiling with the crowd who were cheering for her. Serena said that she is very happy to get through a hard matched with Zheng, in one point of the matched Serena hit a ball on the bottom of the net and scored she added that she haven't done this since she was in junior.

Reaching the quarterfinals was her sister Venus williams the number five seed, with a trailing matched and escaped Agnieszka Radwanska 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Maybe they will go head to head again in the semifinals if they will pass their quarterfinals opponent. It's an exciting match if ever between the two sisters rival. Serena is seeking for her sixth Key Biscayne title and third straight in a row. In her matched with Zheng, she was in danger when she was down love-two, 15-40 serving in the final set, but Serena rallied tied the game and finishing it strong by sweeping the last eight points. Williams in that matched committed a total of 43 error and broke by Zheng six times.

Sonny Ericsson Championship: Federrer advanced to the next round

The latest updates to the Sonny Ericsson Championship at Key Biscayne, Florida.

Roger Federrer had just
advanced to the next round of the Sonny Ericsson Championship at Key Biscayne, Florida, Federrer won over the American by erasing the eight break points early in the game to took the win 6-4, 6-2 Tuesday night. Next opponent for Roger Federrer is the number five seed in the tournament Andy Roddick of America. Roddick advances earlier by beating the French Gail Monfils 7-6, 6-4.

The American's had a break point chanced against Federrer came with the score of 2 all in the second set. Then, Federrer hit a service winner to close out the 26 point game, and put him ahead until the end of the set. Dent's aggressiveness to the ball and his volley tactics made Federrer rushing his shots in the earlier stages of the game. After that Federrer took control of the game and win smoothly over Dent.

Federrer looking ahead to Wimbledon

It was an incredible match up in the finals of the Wimbledon Open last year and one of the greatest matches, I've ever seen in tennis, an exciting and amazing finals between the rivals Roger Federrer and Rafael Nadal where Rafael Nadal's energy prevails in that matched.

Right now, Federrer is looking forward for the Wimbledon tournament to take revenge and dreaming of another grand slam title. And life is going great for Federrer, as he still keeps his world number two position and expecting his first chilid with his girlfriend Mirka.

This five time Wimbledon winner said that it's his dream every year to win this prestigious title the Wimbledon. But also warned his self that he don't have that proper preparation because he do have that French Open right before.

Right now, Federrer is in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Sonny Erricson Open, with his opponent Dent.

For the Fifth time Federrer awarded for his Sportmanship

Last Wednesday Roger Federrer of Switzerland won the ATP World Tour’s Stefan Edberg sportsmanship award for a record fifth consecutive year, and he was chosen the favorite player for the sixth year in a row in a poll of fans.

Also the the World's Number one received the player of the year award, while the duo of Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic were selected doubled team of the year.

Arthur Ashe humanitarian was to given to American James Blake for his charitable efforts, comeback player of the year was Rainer Schuetller. Jo Wilfred Tsonga of Frannce received the most improved player award, and new comer award won by Nee Keshikori of Japan.

Awarding was held at KEY BISCAYNE FLORIDA in the opening of the Sonny Ericsson Open.
And here was the statement of Roger Federrer after he won the Sportsmanship award and tied the record of Edberd by winning it five times in egiht years.

And here was his statements after winning the award. “It is great to receive two more awards." It is always important for me to be a good sportsman on the court and give the right example for others to follow and hopefully inspire the next generation. It also means the world to me to be the fans’ favorite player for the sixth year in a row.”
